Prior to joining GS Capital, Josep has helped fund billion-dollar infrastructure and energy projects in Central and South America, Africa, and Asia with the help of Chinese government-backed companies and institutions such as PowerChina, Gezhouba, and CMCC among others. He has had two successful exits in the tech industry. He was the founder of Ready Soft, one of the first ISPs in the world, sold to World Online and IPOed in 2000. Shortly afterward, he founded Arenamobile a mobile content company with subsidiaries in more than 15 countries in Europe, Asia, North, South America, and Africa, serving telcos in over 100 countries. Arenamobile was sold in 2008. Josep started his professional career as a KPMG auditor in 1991. He is also a co-founder of Digital Investments, as well as an angel investor in Kompyte, Backoffice, Mobincube, and Byld among others.
Josep has extensive business and financing experience having worked all over the world. He is fluent in seven languages: Spanish, Catalan, Chinese, English, Portuguese, French and Italian. He studied business and economics at the University of Barcelona and completed the blockchain strategy program at theUniversity of Oxford’s Saïd School of Business. Josep is a member of the international committee of the British Blockchain Association, a founding member and Silicon Valley Hub coordinator of MyData Global, and a mentor at Singularity University. Josep is an avid reader and his passion is technology.
